Incorporated in 1988, View Royal is adjacent to Esquimalt and Saanich. The community is home to the Victoria General Hospital and encompasses most of Thetis Lake Regional Park. It provides convenient access to the airport, ferry and downtown Victoria.

The housing market is a mix of newer houses and condos along side older, more established homes. Prices in View Royal are more attainable, which makes the area attractive to buyers who have been priced out of the Victoria market but still want to be centrally located.
